The company's objective is to operate a business in
sourcing and supplying movies and TV programs in order
to broadcast on TV 3 . The company has also invested
in other entertainment companies that run in various
media; for example television, radio and electronic
advertising media.
The nature of main businesses that generate revenue
to BEC World group is as follow :
1. Television Business
- TV station business
Bangkok Entertainment Co., Ltd. is the owner of TV 3
station. The company received a Build-Transfer-Operate
(BTO) concession from The Mass Communication Authority
of Thailand (MCOT) for 30 years until March 25, 2020.
The company owns all of its airtime and select its TV
programs to enlarge the size of audience. The major
revenue source is from advertising revenues. The
National Radio and TV Broadcasting Association limits
the advertising airtime up to 12 minutes and 30 seconds
per hour, and the average advertising airtime in a day
must not exceed 12 minutes per hour. (This limit was
increased from 10 minutes per hour in April, 1996)
- Sourcing and producing programs business
There are currently 4 companies running this kind of
business: BEC World Public Co., Ltd., Rangsirojvanit Co.,
Ltd., New World Production Co.,.Ltd., and Ariyawatana Co.,
Ltd. The purpose of having many companies running the same
operation is to create competition in sourcing quality
programs and to create flexibility in contacting a variety
of production houses. These companies have similar business
practice. The nature of the business starts from receiving
allocated airtime from TV 3 which mostly are prime time
and sourcing quality programs to be aired. These companies
will get portions of the advertising airtime according to
the agreement which was previously agreed between TV station
operator (TV 3) and those companies. The portions of
advertising airtime will be sold to the advertising agencies
or the owner of the products or services which want to use
TV as a medium. The main income of these companies come from
selling advertising airtime. At present, these companies
usually hire other 15 drama producers to produce program
for them. The cost of these drama program is usually ranked
from 200,000 - 600,000 Baht per one hour of aired program.
In addition, these companies also buy foreign program and
series to be aired on TV 3.
